Dudmaston has been a much loved home for over 875 years. We were approached by the National Trust to design a new permanent exhibition for Gallery 2, a space to showcase a changing collection of artefacts from throughout Dudmaston’s long and rich history. We branded the exhibition, creating a bespoke typeface and identity, developed a navigational timeline system, modular display structures and interpretive material for a variety of applications. The objects on display in Gallery 2 all link to Dudmaston’s long history. Some are modest, some quirky and some are treasures – each has a story to tell. We used the ‘ancient meets modern’ philosophy to design an exhibition with a contemporary aesthetic, a flexible modular structure and an informative, colour-coded navigational system, whilst allowing the diversity of the objects themselves to be the showcasing feature. As well as designing the exhibition we also commissioned and managed the fabrication and installation of all aspects.
