A taste of history

talea beer co nypl lager

Inspired by George Washington’s original beer recipe from a 1757 recipe drawn from the New York Public Library’s collections, New Yorks female founded brewery TALEA has created a limited-edition Liberty Lager to celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary.

The recipe, made with water, hops, and molasses, was preserved by the New York Public Library and recreated by Talea Beer Co will be available at TALEA'S 5 taprooms across Brooklyn and Manhattan.

The Beer: It’s a 5.5% Amber Lager that perfectly balances light, crisp bitterness with sweet maltiness. Pairs well with food, enough carbonation to taste super refreshing on hot days.

The design uses the original hand written recipe as a backdrop on a graphic representation of the US flag.
